The award-winning gallery’s mission is to provide quality exhibition programs that encourage a greater public understanding and appreciation of contemporary art across cultures and between generations.
Under the umbrella of Safe Harbors of the Hudson, a nonprofit organization that combines supportive housing and the arts, the gallery has evolved into a venue that has supported hundreds of artists through a highly respected exhibition program and community events. Since its inception in 2007, the unique 1679 square foot gallery has hosted a new exhibition approximately every six weeks, featuring artists, from across the nation and abroad, who work in a wide cross-section of media and divergent genres.
One of the only visual art venues in the City of Newburgh, the Ann Street Gallery is strategically located in the downtown area, near a vibrant waterfront district of shops and restaurants, and a ferry across the Hudson River to Dia:Beacon, a major contemporary art center.
The gallery is bringing contemporary art to a new population and provides an opportunity for creative exploration on an unparalleled scale within the City of Newburgh. The gallery is quickly becoming a destination that nourishes the arts and enhances the positive cultural energy in this community. As a result, the gallery was voted “Best Gallery” in the Hudson Valley in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and 2012 by the readers of the Times Herald-Record.
